: How do I know when my hardwood is acclimated?
: There is not a time thing on this. You need a moisture meter to be accurate.
The subfloor should read between 8-12%. You will normally find 8.5 to 10% on this. The flooring should be within 4 percent of the subfloor. Some woods species have a wide plank style, you have to get within 2% regardless. In general, Brazilian hardwood has better stability.

: When should hardwood floors be installed?
: If you're having a home built or making some renovations it is highly suggested to have the hardwood flooring work scheduled very near the end. Unfortunately too many times, builders rush hardwood flooring projects and don't realize the consequences until it's too late and major repairs become necessary or moisture problems caused by other work rears it's ugly head
: CAN I INSTALL A HARDWOOD FLOOR IN ANY ROOM?
: Yes, any room except a full bath. With the variety of products available and a choice of installation options, hardwood flooring can now be installed in any room of the home. The only consideration is whether the floor will be installed on-, above- or below-grade. For example, because of potential moisture problems, solid hardwood is not recommended for installations below grade, such as in a basement. All types of hardwood can be installed on- or above-grade.
: WILL MY Hardwood FLOOR AGE OR CHANGE IN COLOR?
: Yes. You can expect to see shade differences in your floor over time. The cause is usually from exposure to the ultra-violet rays of the sun, whether direct or indirect. This color change will be more noticeable in lighter colors, which will darken over time. In addition, certain species like Brazilian cherry, will naturally darken over the years. These changes are due to the natural characteristics of wood.
: Can I install hardwood floors over concrete Slabs?
: Yes, but precautions must be taken to control moisture before, during and after installation.
: How is the grade rating of the hardwood?
: Wood floors come in grades, which offer different looks. Whether your taste is traditional, contemporary, rustic or exotic, there's a wood look that will complement your home's decor.
- The Grades: First, Second and Third.
- First Grade: Offers the best appearance, natural color variations and limited character marks.
- Other grades range from defect-free with minor imperfections to displaying knots, flags, wormholes, various color shades and a host of other natural wood characteristics.
